LOS ALAMOS, NM, February 13, 2020 -- Pebble Labs USA Inc., a biotechnology company developing solutions that address some of the world’s biggest challenges in agriculture and aquaculture with the mission of improving global food security, announced today the appointment of two preeminent experts to its Science Advisory Board, Dr. Stephen Dellaporta and Associate Professor Matthew Tan.

“Based on my 25 years of experience in agriculture technology, I believe the Pebble Labs solution for protecting plants from pests and disease is transformational and I look forward to contributing to their product development,” said Dr. Stephen Dellaporta, Professor of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology at Yale University.
Dr. Dellaporta is also Founder of Verinomics, a genomics and computational biology company working to accelerate crop improvement. He has co-authored numerous publications in scientific journals such as Cell, Nature, Science, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and Genetics, and has served on scientific advisory panels at National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, Department of Energy and United States Department of Agriculture. He conducted graduate research at Iowa State University/Worcester Polytechnic Institute and received his Ph.D. in 1981. His postdoctoral research was conducted at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.
Associate Professor Matthew Tan is Adjunct Senior Research Fellow and Associate Professor (Aquaculture) at the Centre for Sustainable Tropical Fisheries and Aquaculture, College of Science and Engineering, James Cook University, Australia. He is also CEO of Oceanus Tech Pte Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Oceanus Group, one of the world’s largest land-based aquaculture companies.

Associate Professor Tan is also Singapore Representative (private sector) to Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation – Policy Partnership on Food Security. As co-chair for Sustainable Development in Agricultural and Fishery Sectors, he coordinates discussion among Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) governments and the private sector on the use of technology for sustainable development.
