CALIFORNIA, 29 March 2021, 8pm PST — today Grounded Foods Co. releases their world-first cauliflower + hemp ™ cheeses to consumers in the U.S.

The highly anticipated products, which have already attracted the attention of media, chefs and investors across the globe, are designed to reimagine the sensory experience of eating cheese—using fermentation to achieve the same addictive taste and texture of real dairy.

Unlike nut or coconut oil-based cheese alternatives, which have struggled to break into the mainstream CPG market, Grounded’s unique products are based on a proprietary blend of imperfect cauliflower and hemp. They’re fully plant based, casein free, nut free, soy free, gluten free, non-GMO and keto friendly.

Most importantly, the cheeses focus on flavor first—appealing to the growing number of flexitarian consumers who would like to reduce the amount of dairy in their diets, but who aren’t willing to compromise on taste.

“We’re not vegan ourselves, but we recognize that there are enormous sustainability issues surrounding dairy production. Our goal is to help everyday people shift away from dairy, by creating something so insanely tasty, you wouldn’t think twice about choosing it over cheddar” said CEO Veronica Fil. She enlisted her partner Shaun Quade, an award-winning chef (Gault & Millau Australian Chef of the Year 2017; Australian Restaurant of the Year 2016), to create the products in a way that “threw away the rule book on how to make vegan cheese and started again from scratch, using real ingredients and an entirely different process”, said Fil.

Due to Grounded’s use of unusual core ingredients, the company has been able to overcome many of the obstacles that companies in this category have faced—including price point, scalability and nutrition. The cheeses are packed with nutrition including protein, antioxidants, Omega 3 + 6 fats, vitamins and minerals and high levels of calcium. Believing that high quality, plant based nutrition should be accessible and affordable, the company will be pricing the products at an average MSRP of $5.99 USD.
