Article submission: The SDG potential of biogas energy and the finance needed to reach 33m African households
submitted 3 weeks ago by garyalmond

Dear Submissions team

I wanted to share with you a story idea on the potential of Biogas to contribute towards the UN SDGs, and the impact-based financing needed to scale up their market penetration.

We have developed two briefing documents, highlighting:

1. The impact of biogas across several SDGs, including Affordable and Clean Energy Access (SDG 7), Zero Hunger (SDG 2) and Climate Action (SDG 13).

2. How in Africa alone there is a market of 33 million households that could adopt the technology yet market penetration is currently less than 1%, and the different types of funding support needed for the sector to scale and meet its potential.

The briefs have been developed from a far-reaching impact report conducted by IPE Triple Line with support of Shell Foundation and the UK Government, and in partnership with Sistema.bio. We have published a full report on the Shell Foundation website (link included), but the briefs haven’t been published anywhere, and we feel would be of strong interest to environmental tech supporters, impact investors and social entrepreneur audience groups.

Please let me know if this is something you would be interested in developing at AgFunder. If so I would be happy to share the briefs via email and jump on a quick call to discuss.

With kind regards,
